The team managed to recapture a little dignity by beating the Bengals. Steve Walsh was OK, but his affection for telegraphing "out" patterns is scary. Let's get it over with: The first half was uneventful. Morten went 2 out of 3 (a long one hit the crossbar) and Pelfrey was 1 for 1. On the first possession of the second half Les Miller forced a Bengal fumble and Jimmy Spencer recovered it at the Cincinnati 27. The Saints converted the turnover into a 9 yard Walsh to Irv Smith TD pass. What began as a Bengal 55 yard FG attempt turned into a punt to the NO 8 on the next possession. After the Saints punted it back, Cincinnati made a 32 yard FG. On the next possession Walsh threw another TD pass to a defender (a carbon copy of the other two). However, a guy sitting near me managed to throw a paper airplane completely across the field (sideline to sideline) at this point, which was cool. The teams traded punts, with Pro Bowler Tyrone Hughes returning the second one 34 yards to the NO 46. Eric Martin provided the rest of the yards by catching a pass over the middle and lumbering his way into the endzone. After three more punts, the Saints ran the last 5 or 6 minutes off the clock. ******************************************************************************* Frank Serpas III
