In 1994, when I created the world's first Saturday Night Live website, I was working on my Master's thesis, which involved the use of FORTRAN 77. The concomitant format mindset (80 columns of fixed-width characters) informed the structure of my SNL Episode Guide, which I still maintain to this day.
Thanks to my text-only scheme, over four decades' worth of SNL show descriptions can fit on a 3.5" floppy. In the spirit of Bill Gates apocrypha, I say "1.44 MB ought to be enough for any website."
