I emerged debt-free from seven years of grad school thanks to my job as a teaching assistant in UT's Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Projects Program, in which, per the program's current website (and the original one I created two decades ago) "students apply engineering design methodology, using both analysis and synthesis, to solve open-ended problems submitted by industrial sponsors."
