Super Sunday notwithstanding, the fiercest pigskin battles took place in the early 1980s in the streets of New Orleans East, namely Edward Street (yay!) and Dogwood Street (boo!). When it came to touch football, the Dogwood Dogs could match the Edward Eagles' alliteration, but only the Eagles had jerseys (with iron-on letters from Security Sporting Goods) and a top-secret three-page playbook (authored by me).
