At my undergraduate institution, Georgia Tech, it was easy to avoid socializing and just stay focused on academics; that describes my experience. I was trained to be "a hell of an engineer" but didn't make any lasting friends.
My mindset was that the point of school was to go to class and learn things, so I wasn't in the market for partying or having a romantic relationship; Tech was happy to accommodate me.
