In contrast to the conference's weak performance in this year's March Madness, in 1990 there were four ACC teams in the Sweet Sixteen, including Georgia Tech, who swiped LSU's ticket to the Southeast regional by rebounding from an early 19-point deficit to down the Shaquille O'Neal / Chris Jackson / Stanley Roberts Tigers in the second round.
