In the days before online video, Talk Soup was an invaluable digest of American culture, as reflected in clips of (and commentary about) daytime and late-night talk shows.
I watched the show during the tail end of Greg Kinnear's tenure plus all of John Henson's. I knew I was on the same wavelength as the latter host when he started using a catchphrase I'd previously adopted: "Sorry, Tennessee!". I haven't been able to find video of the original Dreyfus Funds commercial containing the wisecrack (rough translation: "Too bad, loser!"), but I have unearthed the origin of this glorious non sequitur.
